Oasis Africa is a 19 year-old indigenous counseling and training organization based in Nairobi, Kenya, that has been equipping professional and lay counselors since 1990. Dr. Gladys Mwiti founded Oasis Africa with a purpose and commitment to bring healing to many hurting communities in our world, and to build leadership committed to integrity and accountability. Oasis Africa has a qualified and experienced team of 28 full-time and part-time professional personnel. We currently work with 20 part-time MA Counselors, who have qualifications in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Counseling, and Clinical Social Work. We also liaise with Medical Doctors and licensed psychiatrists. A full-time staff of 8 office personnel supports this team of counselors and trainers.
Oasis Africa operates in a setup where Board Members, Staff and Clients enjoy mutual partnerships that enhance co-ownership of the organization and its achievements.

We also offer services in the following areas:

Individual Counseling and Psychotherapy:
One-on-one sessions, marriage enrichment and psychotherapy.

Counseling Enrichment Programs:
Targets individuals and groups who have challenging issues related to pre-marriage, marriage, family, conflict resolution, HIV/AIDS, retirement, chemical dependency and relapse prevention.

Psychosocial Support:
We offer counseling and psychosocial support to employees within their work environment.  Tailored programs include areas such as emotional intelligence and fitness, change management, self-development, stress management, retirement planning and work-life balance.

Training of Trainers:
Programs for community and institutional based counselors.

Life-skills Programs:
Covers self-awareness, goal setting, stress management, career guidance, work and productivity and staff motivation.

Africa Regional Programs:
Work with individuals involved with Children at Risk, Youth, Marriage and Lay Counselors and Project Managers.

Oasis Africa’s Institute of Leadership and Professional Psychology offers Certificate and Diploma training in the following areas:Leadership Development, Theology, Environmental Studies, Community Development and Social Work, Counseling Psychology and Psycho-sociology. We also offer training in Continuing Education, Supervision for Psychologists in practice, skills in Trauma Recovery, Marriage and Family Therapy, as well as psycho-education for the general population. We have a new Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Counseling in conjunction with Africa International University (NEGST). At OA-ILPP, students will find an exceptional atmosphere for learning and growth enriched by an organization that has over 20 years experience in professional counseling and leadership training services in Kenya and the wider continent. We have alumni in 16 African nations whose work continues to respond effectively to the challenges that Africa continues to struggle with. These include immense psychosocial challenges such as traumas associated with war and conflict, the AIDS pandemic, family instability, child abuse and neglect. Oasis Africa pioneered leadership development in Kenya when it became the first indigenous professional leadership institute committed to pure leadership development within the country. After introducing leadership as a teachable and examinable subject in African universities, Oasis Africa has defined leadership as a multidisciplinary profession, central in all human endeavors.
